Orchestra of Unspoken Terms

Every night when we lay down on our bed
It's solid mahogany spine bearing us up,
like two sleepy birds atop a rhino's back
Our bodies anchor in the deep blue of night
But our spirits flow away beneath the spinning stars
We might dance for a little while on the ripples of night
Cut a treble cleff across the evening sky
But our journeys part, with the clouds
Into the arms of dream, sweet or heavy
You are given great sweeping wings,
Other worlds, familiar faces and crooked walls,
Set in the origami of days before,
An orchestra of unspoken terms.
And then morning light pulls you back,
A snap of body and soul, like a kettle boiled
And it is here where I greet you my love,
A kiss upon your head, nose to nose,
